University of Peloponnese
The University of the Peloponnese is located in the southern part of Greece’s mainland, and it consists of 22 departments organized in 9 schools, having presence in 6 cities in the area of Peloponnese. The University of the Peloponnese was founded by Presidential Decree 13/2000. It is based in Tripoli and is developed at the level of integrated Schools in the capitals of the Prefectures of the Peloponnese, Tripoli, Kalamata, Sparta, Nafplio and Corinth as well as in Patras.
The University of the Peloponnese vision is to provide its students with a rich and high-quality educational experience and at the same time to produce research and new knowledge of high standards, for the benefit of society both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. All activities of the University of the Peloponnese will be carried out in an environment of academic freedom and equal opportunities, with full respect for academic ethics, democratic dialogue and diversity, and with full support of inclusivity and diferations.
The University of Peloponnese is represented by the Knowledge and Uncertainty Research Laboratory that is located in Tripolis as part of the School of Economics and Technology.
Founded in 2014 and formally established in 2017, the Knowledge and Uncertainty Research Laboratory (Ερευνητική Ομάδα Γνώσης και ΑBεβαιότητας – ΓΑΒ LAB) examines the role of knowledge and of its absence in the theory and application of information technology. Our main theoretical tools are fuzzy mathematics and the semantic web, while fields such as information visualization, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, adaptation to the user, cultural informatics, social networks and smart cities also have an important role in the team’s research.
